Welcome...

This home page has been prepared in order to introduce you to the purpose and goals of the Mountain Repeater Association / Independent Radio Club, and to tell you about the Club's repeater system.

The Mountain Repeater Association was formed about 30 years ago, in an effort to promote the growth of 220 MHz operation, further the readiness of the Amateur Radio Community to provide disaster emergency communications, and to promote experimentation with VHF communications.

To this end, the Association merged with the the family-oriented Independent Radio Club in 2006, bringing 440 MHz and 902 MHz repeaters to the existing wide area 220 MHz repeater system. The combined Club holds monthly meetings, conducts frequent on-air net meetings (Net on Tuesdays at 6pm and Thursdays at 8pm), hosts several social events during the year, participates in Field Day, offers license classes and VE test sessions, and maintains four high-altitude repeater sites in the Southern California/Nevada/Arizona area. The IRC is an ARRL affiliated club, and is dedicated to the principles of that organization.

Now known as the Independent Radio Club, our repeater system provides access on three amateur bands, 222 MHz, 440 MHz and 902 MHz. Voter receivers and links between sites provide wide area coverage to Southern California, Arizona and Nevada. Internet Radio Linking Project (IRLP) and EchoLink nodes further extend system coverage literally worldwide.
